About Willow Park, Montessori Day Nursery
Willow Park opened in January 2002. A private, Montessori Day Nursery, owned and managed by qualified Montessori professionals. “Shaping their Future” is what we do. Treating children as individuals, encouraging independence and building their self confidence and self-esteem. We provide a stimulating and inviting environment enabling us to follow the child.
Maria Montessori 1870- 1952
Maria Montessori developed her theory, understanding that children learn through choosing, trying and doing themselves. Using specifically developed equipment in a prepared environment guided by the Montessori teacher, leads to a confidence-building approach to learning. The key principles are Independence, Observation, Following the Child and the Prepared Environment.
Willow Park accepts children aged from 3 months up until school age. Children move to Hedgehogs the month following their second birthday and to Owls, the month after their third birthday.
Ladybirds – for children aged from 3 months – 2 years
Hedgehogs – for children aged 2-3 years
Owls – for children aged from 3 years until school age
Play & learn
Maria Montessori believed that children learn by choosing, trying and doing for themselves. Within our prepared environment, we encourage children to engage with the routines of living. Using her specifically designed apparatus, many of which are didactic, in a prepared environment, guided by Montessori teachers who constantly observe the children and what they are interested in, leads to a confidence-building approach to learning.
At Willow Park we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
Food and nutrition are an important part of nursery life. Not only the balanced menus and the quality of the meals we serve, but for learning too.
