Otters Term time only care for children 3 to 5 years of age

This classroom is a prepared environment designed to support the child's needs for purposeful activity. It is also divided into separate areas, all of which interrelate.

The children are free to choose their own activity, to watch another child at work or to work in a small group. The needs of the children are respected by all, with work being returned to the shelf ready for the next person.

As well as the main educational areas of the room we always have art available and do lots of story telling, drama, singing, movement, PE and outside play.

The environment is designed to give the child all it needs to form his personality and create who he is. Language, writing, reading and maths are absorbed daily, but the child is not "trying" to learn these things - he is unconsciously absorbing them. Often the room will be calm and quiet - this is because the children are all busy!

This classroom has direct access to the garden and when the weather is acceptable the garden will be used as an extending learning environment.

This classroom caters for children who wish to attend on a sessional basis, during the school terms only. The minimum requirement for sessions is 2 mornings a week.

There are 12 places available in this room, with 2 qualified members of staff.
